Fuel Poverty in Sir Malcolm Stewart Homes

by timhill on 11 July, 2013

Mayor Dave Hodgson and I have been working with Borough Council officers and representatives of the Sir Malcolm Stewart Trust to tackle the issue of replacing rotting windows on the estate.

Unfortunately, the Trust does not currently have the necessary funding to tackle this issue, but I am pleased to report that the Trust has confirmed the appointment of a fundraising consultant for a limited period of time. The role of this consultant will be to try and find the necessary grants to fund the replacement windows. This replacement would assist in a large reduction in residents fuel bills and end the constant drafts coming into their homes.

I am very pleased that this appointment has been made, and while this may be a long process I am delighted that work can begin on trying to find the necessary funding. If anyone has any ideas for sources of grant funding, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
